Juicing fresh fruits and vegetables is a great way to live a healthy lifestyle. I love juicing and have tried many juicers. Most work fine, however Omega juicers tend to perform slightly better than others.
Whether you are seasoned in making your own juice or are new to juicing, Omega VRT 400 can be a great tool in your arsenal. In my Omega vrt400 review I will outline what makes this juicer stand out, including the positive and negative features of the Omega vrt400, and also how to use and maintain your new juicer in for everyday use.
The Omega vrt400 comes in red or silver. The design is a vertical auger style which means the not too sharp blade (the auger) sits on top of the motor. Less space is take up due to the vertical design. The spout is on the side under the auger/blade and has a cap.The technical product specs are:
The biggest feature of the vrt400 is that it’s a vertical masticating juicer (also known as cold press). This means the vegetables and other ingredients you will be juicing are put in through the top tube and pushed down into the blade. Many consumers who juice complain that vertical juicers got jammed.
Here is where the Omega vrt400 really shines. The vrt400 does not jam like many other vertical juicers because of its design. The auger (the main plastic body the produce goes through) is longer than most other designs so the produce has more space. So this leads to less jams and less time wasted.
Unfortunately, the overall juice volume is lower compared to a horizontal auger design. But what a vertical juicer like the Omega vrt400 lacks in juice volume it makes up for in time. When compared to a horizontal juicer, the Omega vrt400 will be able to juice a whole bag of carrots while a horizontal juicer will juice three carrots in the same time.
Juicing is really only two steps – First, preparing the produce.
This might mean washing your fruit and vegetables and chopping up any harder fibrous vegetables like celery. Cutting up these tougher veggies is important because the vertical style is easily jammed by too much fiber.
Second, actually juicing!
Once all your ingredients are set up turn your Omega vrt400 on. Don’t be intimidated by the motor or blade. The blade is not sharp enough to do any serious harm (but that doesn’t mean sticking your hand too far in!).
The correct order when juicing produce is leafy greens first, then harder fibrous vegetables (like celery), and fruit last. The reason leafy greens are first is so they get pushed down by the harder ingredients.
Continue putting in your ingredients. Remember to keep the cap on so all the juice blends together and doesn’t drip out until you finish. Most people don’t know this, but on most other vertical juicers the juice drips out as you are still juicing. Meaning the different juice from the different produce doesn’t mix unless you mix it maually ( as in the apple juice sits on top of the celery juice).
Similar to other Omega VRT series juicers, this one’s different. The included spout cap allows the different juices to mix together while you are still putting the produce in. Your juice will be better mixed and also taste better.
When everything is done, take the cap off and let the juice flow into the catch you set below the spout (cup or jar for long-term storage works best).
The worst part and about juicing is the mess that gets made. Thankfully the Omega vrt400 is super easy to clean.
Almost everything comes apart so you can thoroughly clean out all the nooks and crannies. Just don’t submerge that motor! And remember to take the strainer out to get rid of any and all pulp.

On Amazon there is a “Frequently Asked Questions” section under each product. Since those questions are so often asked, I thought I’d answer a few quickly.
-No, I wouldn’t recommend this at all. Anything besides produce (such as protein powder) will most likely jam the blade. Stick with a blender if you want smoothies and a juicer for juicing.
-There are a few additional nice little features, such as the spout cap and the increased warranty.
-The VRT400 is made in South Korea
-If used properly, the pulp strainer should prevent almost all pulp from getting into your juice. A little may get through of course. But most of the pulp should be caught in the strainer which you can then dispose.
-The warranty is 15 years. That’s 5 years longer than the previous warranty on the older 350 model.
The Omega VRT400 is a handy juicer if you like to mix hard ingredients (such as beets, celery) and fruit. It’s made by one of the best manufacturers and backed for a very long time. Although it’s design doesn’t produce the same amount of juice as a horizontal style juicer, it makes up this with its strengths. The motor is strong and has plenty of room for the ingredients you feed into it, as long as you don’t over do it. It’s quiet and the aftermath is not that messy, but also super easy to clean. The quality is top notch and this machine will last a long time for everyday user.
Remember, that good health is the number one path to happiness. Don’t skimp out on your health. Instead, think of it as an investment like a great reliable car or a well-made dress. In this case you’re purchasing a juicer.
