High quality BPA plastic, however only 1 year warranty on body.
Manual cleaning needed after every use.
This juicer is a little pricier, compared to others.
The Hurom HU-100 juicer extracts 35% more juice compared to the cheaper centrifugal juicers and doesn’t destroy the nutrients, vitamins, and heat-sensitive live enzymes like the rest do. It juices anything you can throw at it, including fruits, vegetables, greens, soy, or almonds. The result is some of the best juice you can make at home. The trade off? It’s pricier, slower, and not as easy to clean. Is it worth it? Check out my pros and cons section below for a quick summary of this Hurom HU-100 review, or keep scrolling if you want all the details.
The Hurom HU-100 juicer comes in white, silver, or black BPA-free quality-looking plastic. The strainer and auger are made of Ultem plastic, which is eight times stronger than the regular kind. Assembly is simple and not difficult to figure out.
One of the most attractive features of the juicer is its vertical design that measures just 9.8 x 6.8 x 15.8 inches, so it won’t take up a lot of your counter space. It’s fairly mobile too, since it features a convenient handle and weighs just short of 14 pounds.

A word of warning: the second generation HU-100 has a 10-year warranty on the motor, but the rest of the juicer is guaranteed for a year only. The first generation used to come with a 10-year warranty on the whole thing, but it's no longer being sold. Since some people report the strainer cracking after prolonged use, this is definitely something to keep in mind.
Since the HU-100 is a masticating slow juicer, it doesn't spin your food at high speeds like the centrifugal juicers do. Instead, the HU-100 crushes and grinds at a low 80 RPM, keeping sensitive nutrients and enzymes intact. This also gets 35% more juice out of your food, with the pulp coming out completely dry.
The resulting juice is full of nutrients, has little froth or oxidation and stays fresh in the fridge for up to three days. The other benefit? The HU-100's slow speed means it operates quietly. So if you're the type that juices early in the morning, this juicer will let you do it without the worry of waking up your family and neighbors.
The HU-100 can juice hard produce (like celery, apples, or cucumbers), citrus fruits, soft fruits (like mango, avocado, or kiwi), and leafy greens (like kale, spinach, or wheatgrass). It can even make soy or almond milk.
Unlike with other juicers, you will need to cut up your food into small pieces no bigger than three inches. After that, things get simple. Just feed the pieces into the juicer and you’ll get juice coming out from the spout.
The dry pulp ejects from the other side. If a piece is not going through, add a little pressure with the pusher. Don’t go overboard though. If the pulp is coming out, the machine is working fine. If it’s not, you can use the reverse function to get rid of the clogging.

This Hurom juicer does have an self-clean feature: pouring water into a running machine will clean it out and prepare it to juice another set of food. While this allows you to make several juices in one go, you do need to take it apart and wash it after you’re done juicing.
The unit disassembles easily so that you can soak and gently wash the parts in warm, soapy water. There’s also a brush included with the juicer for cleaning the filter. You'll need to use it to avoid hard and nasty buildup accumulating over time. So while the process is simple, you will definitely need to spend a few minutes cleaning after every use.
Q: Is the juicer BPA-free?
A: Yes, it is made from BPA-free plastic.
Q: How does this juicer compare with the Omega models?
A: You might find it a bit slower – and it requires the food to be cut up into small pieces before juicing, unlike the Omega.
Q: What voltage does this juicer use?
A: It uses 120V at 60Hz, using up 150W.
Q: Does this juicer come with a 10-year warranty, or should I buy an extra one?
A: Only for the motor. The rest of the juicer has a 1-year warranty, so if you want a longer one, you’d need to buy it from the seller.
Q: Can I use this juicer to make nut butters?
So what’s the verdict of this Hurom HU-100 review? If you’re looking for high-quality, tasty, nutritious juice – then this is the juicer for you. If you’re looking for something that won’t break the bank and will take some abuse – you may be better off with a conventional centrifugal juicer. And if you’re concerned about the short warranty, consider some of Hurom's competitors. They might offer longer ones, but they might not offer everything the Hurom does. Still, the quality of the juice the Hurom HU-100 produces would make an excellent choice for many.
